Yoga For Beginners Mind

Beginner's Mind. A zen like place where you don’t know all the answers and you don’t have to! You trust and enjoy the ride.

It’s about dropping all preconceptions and opening yourself up to all of YOUR possibilities.

The ones that have existed since the day you were born.

This month I am taking time to nurture my spirit of enquiry. I invite you to do the same!

The beauty: there are no shoulds. Drop them. I am trying to. And there are no fails. Just set the intention to show up, like a beginner, new and eager to have an experience.

With beginner's mind practice, we will be lighter, creative and open to more possibilities.

A 20 min practice to put it into play! Enjoy!

Let us know how it goes down below! If you have a friend who might benefit from this session, share it with them!

Namaste,
Adriene

  5. How wonderful for you to be exactly where you want to be....using your beginners mind to see and hear and smell and touch and just be. How wonderful for us to have you to remind us that no matter where we are, or what we are doing it is all new and ours to be enjoyed and appreciated. At 75 it is too easy to slide into a place of non doing and non being as though it's all "been there, done that" when really nothing could be further from the truth. This morning was all dead zone, why bother? But your energy is so powerful that I found my way to the mat and now I am alive again! Thank you Adriene. Thank you little me for trusting. Namaste

    1. 75!! I love you. Just hope you read this and know that a trusting faith filled hurting heart in NC loves you for your grace and beauty. Namaste

    2. Nancy, thank you! I love this! Yes, never stop! Love and peace with
gratitude for all especially our beloved Adriene!

  6. Returning to a beginners mind... You can pour so much into an empty vessel and gain so much! Good morning all! Thank u 4 today's practice.

  7. Dear Adrienne, wishing you all the best in your journey to Mexico.

    A big hug,

Kind Regards from Berlin, I love to wait for your videos till 10 am on Sunday. Namaste y muchas gracias =)

  9. I hadn't done any yoga since January. Really felt like a beginner coming back to it! Thank you for this.

  10. This practice was awesome and just what I needed this morning. I felt renewed within and ready to approach my life with a beginner's mind.

Thank you, Adriene for your amazing contribution to this community of yogis. You are the best!!!

    Namaste,
    Althea

  11. Adriene,
Wonderful way to start a Sunday morning. Love the practice or returning to the Beginner's Mindset. Reminds me of why I started my practice in January, to be a better, healthier me. Some mornings I force myselft to get up early, to give myselft enough time for yoga. Each time I finish my session, I'm glad I did. Thank you for encouraging and inspiring to be the best me. Have a wonderful week. Namaste.

  12. Hi Adriene,
after months of doing nothing, this was my first beginning again. I hope, i find time for every days practice...it felt so good to "power up" mind and body.

Thanks a lot.....xxx from Berlin, germany

  13. Thanks Adriene for the Great Mind re-awakining! The practice felt like perfect timing today!

  14. You were so with me today. I fell out of daily yoga last week due to illness and felt so bad about myself all week. I tried and just didn't have the energy to stay on the mat for an entire video. But today I committed to do it, since I was finally feeling better. And this beginnings video is one I want to do everyday! It refreshed me and challenged me at the same time. I needed you today. Thank you.

  15. I am new to your site Adriene & to yoga & getting ready to start the 30 day program. It’s Sunday morning here and I just made a pot of your green soup. Spinach asparagus broccoli celery onion basil ... delish. I could eat the entire pot. Not sure it will last all week. Thanks for sharing.

  16. Heeeeey Adrienne!
My name is Catalina and I’m 14 years old. I am currently stuying for my IGCSEs which are british exams that universities base on when you apply to them. So, basically, i’ve been trying to wake up earlier to do some yoga, but I’ve just exhausted myself.

So right now there is a lot of stressful moments in the day where I am constantly telling myself that I’m not good enough, which I know is just rubbish

ANYWAY, the point is, I can’t get off this mindset. Like you said, your thoughts shape who you are, and I don’t want to be insecure or hysterial. Is there anything that you recommend I could do?

Thank you for reading a hormonal teen’s message,
    Lots of love from Madrid,
    Cata.

  17. Beginners mind focuses on the now, your feelings and breath.
I feel a calmness flowing throughout my body, lovely feeling. Wow.
    Thank you.

  18. Adriene, I am 70 years old and have been practicing with you for many years, and now my daughter, Annie, practices with you as well. I have learned so much from you. I love the concept of a beginner's mind practice. Begin a new way of moving, a new way of getting your needs met. Begin at the beginning and don't even think about where it will take you. Namaste.

  19. Beginner's mind allowed such a deep sense of being fully in the moment. Constant reminder. Thank you for your energy and your spirit and bringing all us amazing beings together. Namaste

  20. That was perfect Adrienne. This has been a week of learning new things and being exposed to new activities and communities. It was wonderful to come back to my practice, but have the invitation to bring that curious, open, learning mind to it that has been active all week. I do tend to get in some serious yoga ruts (like the bent neck in the Ashtanga halfway lift, you called me on that one! lol) Thank you!!!

  21. Dear Adriane
Tgank you for this beautiful you give us on this yoga practise.
I love it and is making such difference in my body and mind.
    Thousands Thank you again .
    Adios

  22. Hey. Does anyone have a suggestion for a great eco friendly yoga Matt, with great grip for a beginner/semi- intermediate-ish practice? My matt is starting to fall apart

  23. I was introduced to your practice, by a dear friend, at the beginning of the year. I can’t express to you enough, how much I enjoy this time I set aside each and every day. I feel better about myself, my body, my soul, than I have felt in many years. Thank you for accepting me the way I am, teaching me to be grateful for God’s blessings, and for allowing me to be part of this group of well intentioned people.

  24. I remember the first time I found a Yoga With Adriene video, I was like WOW, this is my kind of teacher! I love that i never feel 'dooshy' for having a beginner's mind, where as in yoga studios I would always feel somewhat 'dooshy' for not being able to instantly twist myself into a pretzel. Thanks so much for the inspiration Adriene, and for helping us all to remain curious..

  25. Hello from Guadalajara, MEX. Been following your practice for few weeks, loving it. Thanks so much for sharing!

  26. I am living abroad for 6 months and my home practice through FWFG has been a wonderful part of my life in Chile. Every practice is a special part of my day and this one is no exception - except that it's the first time I have commented! Whatever comprises your usual practice, this is a nice way to connect the body and mind at home or away. I'm lovin' it and sharing it with others.

  27. Love you Adriene! What a beautiful way to remind us that you can always begin again. Plus your reference to the astanga version of halfway lift was a total touché for me, it's hard to shake! But I'm building new pathways. xoxo Noora from Helsinki

  28. Adriene,
    Awesome as always.
My little yoga group does a 30 minute 'class' with you in the lead once a week. Would love to see a few more hip openers and in particular a few more pigeon poses blended in.
    Namaste,
    Rita

  29. Wonderful practice a challenge that included the great feeling of release from the physical effort. Thinking of doing these moves as if it was the first time was a great way to approach moves I now do without much thought so this was a very good wake up call to be more MINDFUL. Great practice, thank you!

  30. A beautiful way to begin the week... my beginner's mind is much more optimistic, open to learning something new and not bogged down by perceived limitations; how refreshing that is! Thank you!

  31. I always leave with a good feeling after doing a practice with you. Thank you Adriene. ❤️

  32. I had taken a day break after the MANIFEST calendar's Shakti Power Flow and I was wondering if I should do Monday (today's) video or yesterday's new one. I ended up with this one and am so glad that I did. It was so refreshing and gentle; my brain feels a lot clearer and more relaxed. Thank you, Adriene!

  33. Thank you, Adriene. This practice has served me in a few ways: realizing that there are no shoulds, considering myself an empty vessel with openness to accepting every new knowledge, and connecting to my own true self as if I'm a complete beginner.
It was such a heartfelt practice.
    Namaste,
    Jen

  34. all I can say is if you get a chance and if you love Margi's (and a little bird told me you just might) please visit señor. frogs and you will be completely satisfied! blessings, and be safe! todays practice brought me back to my first encounter with yoga. It was about 1968 in school for P.E in the gym on a rainy day. Oh how I loved it. It was a little different, we laughed at some of the stretches as kids! but my memory is that it was so amazing, and did come natural for me and I felt a good flow, even as a child.

  35. Brilliant to return to basics and realise how much there is still to learn. Thank you for keeping us on our toes.

  36. Beginner's mind is a profound idea. It leads us to experience everything afresh, from sittting in the sun, drinking a glass of water, to listening to piece of music which we thought had gone stale, but in truth the mind had gone stale, and needed to reawaken so we can really listen again, as if for the first time.

  37. Adriene, Thank you so much for this practice. It came just at the right time. I'm finishing up the first year of my PhD program and I've been feeling tired, worn out, and a bit jaded. The excitement and novelty has worn off and all I see is constant work. Yesterday I made a practice of re-aligning my perception, such that being in my program and pursuing my degree is a privilege (it truly is). This beginner's mind practice is my new practice for today! Experiencing it all as if for the first time, without taking it for granted or missing the nuances of new experiences, will bring light into the doldrums of everyday life. THANK YOU FOR YOUR LABOR OF LOVE!

  38. Great session today. Earlier Today I felt I was in a rut, but after doing the yoga it opened up my mind and I felt so much more refreshed.

  39. What a blessing to be able to start fresh at any moment. Glad I re-started with you, Adriene! This morning has been a great re-fresh and this practice was the icing on top! Much love to all, sun is shining! Also props to the 75 year-old who commented! I love that we can always find something new even when we think we are just foggy robots- regardless of age, all it takes is a little shift of perspective and energy! May we all live to 75 and beyond with young eyes and hearts <3

  40. Love these practices, thank you so much Adriene. I have a request if possible? Would you be able to do a video focusing on how to engage the core and yet still keep the breath free and flowing? I would appreciate learning more about how to engage mule bhanda! Wishing you well and thank you so much for this wonderful gift of your yoga!

  41. Lovely practice, I hank you as always. This was a nice reminder that each day is a new beginning, and by changing up my routine I feel as though I can tune in to feelings I have been avoiding. That is the beauty of discovery.

  42. Dearest Adriene,

Hi. I've yogad with you quite a bit. I've done a few challenges and mood specific routines. I've recently been reading about healing my chakras and holding poses for at least a minute. Is there any way you would be willing to do a routine like that? Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Diana

  43. Yes, a beginners mind. I loved the new things I felt during the practice, it's a playful and curious space. Experiemental! I'd like to take this mind to all my projects in life and work. In the spirit of enquiry and openness to see the way we always have done things may not be the best way or the right way, and how FUN it might be to inject new energy in to your ROUTINE. Because everything changes every day, May May be the month of ENQUIRY and Beginniners Mind 🙂 I love it
    Erica

  44. Thank you! Wondering if I missed it but do you have a yoga for headaches/migraines? Both from a prevention or a treatment perspective?

  45. Good morning Adrienne,
Than you so much for this practice...Great to slow down, pay attention to your breath and thoughts.
Always healthy to begin again.Happy Travels to you.We are fortunate to have your positive energy.
    Peace and joy to you!

  46. Good morning Adrienne,

A nice practice to get me back into the swing of things. I did the 30 day True and then various single practices but then fell off wagon. I love the 20-25 min length; I poop out for the 35 min ones.

Any suggestions for exercises for compromised leg (no ACL and repaired meniscus).

I love having you back in my life.

  47. The begins practice was perfect for me right now. I am recovering from a shoulder injury, still doing physical therapy and today I did this practice and feel like I got a little bit of myself back. It's hard to not be able to go to the mat. So thank you for today.

    Best,
    Nancy

  48. Just come back from yoga retreat and had already started to slip back, so a great refocus again on the simple things and importance of the breathe. Lovely way to start the day

  49. Thank you for this guidance. When I sat down on my mat, the tears just started flowing. Overwhelm and fear that I have been holding onto for the last week. By the end, I felt calmer and ready for a plan through and away from these feelings. Thank you for the simplicity of this movement. Exactly what I needed.

  50. Very relaxing...learning to focus on me and my breath...not the distractions in my environment or mind. Looking forward to bettering my yoga practice.

  51. Good morning. With covid 19 I decided I needed something for my sanity , hence yoga with Adriene has been in my life since April 1st. I’m 56 and feel like rigor mortis has set in. I’m determined to continue but I find I really struggle sitting cross legged plus a multitude of other things . Can you direct me to videos that I should be trying? I enjoy Adriene’s wit, humor and ease. Thank you Karin

  52. I love your yoga classes! Can you create one for snowboarders? We tend to get out of whack-back leg tends to gets more of the action and weight and it would be great to re-balance everything.

  53. What a perfect yoga practice for when you've been away for a week! Wonderful stretches and mindset adjustment! I've been doing YWA for five years now and always love it, you, and Benji! Thanks so much!
