Yoga At Your Desk

12/01/2014 By Yoga With Adriene 17 Comments

SNEAK IN SOME YOGA! Because you are worth it – and we know the tools of YOGA are powerful and sometimes quite simple. Yoga at your desk is perfect for anybody who spends much time working at a computer or in a cubicle. This sequence is ideal for those who want to sneak in a quick yoga break or for those who are in healing and want to practice a little bit of opening with the support of a chair. Practice a little energetic hygiene and deep breathing! Open your heart, your shoulders and relieve tension! You can practice this puppy without sound too! Made with love. Namaste.

HOORAY! I think you read my mind 🙂 I have been following your videos for about a month and have noticed such a huge huge improvement in my mental and physical states.

Without much time at home during the week, I only have about 30 minutes to work out each morning and find myself thinking about yoga every day during work, wishing for a break to stretch out the daily tension that builds up behind this computer. My yoga daydreams are what just brought me to your site to find this wonderful surprise! I can’t wait to start working this into my routine tomorrow, on mute of course 🙂

Thanks so much for your mindful, positive, and encouraging videos/dialogue. I have always enjoyed a great workout but just got so sick of forcing myself into cardio. Now, because of you, there is a routine that I couldn’t imagine going a day without. The are no words to accurately express my gratitude. You are so great at what you do, keep up the great work! Can’t possibly imagine all that you are going to achieve in the years to come, but I do know that I am excited to continue to growing with you and your wonderful practice.

    Namaste, from NC.

Thank you for sharing. I began my yoga journey just this past December. Daily exercise was always in my routine, but due to health issues, I slowly lost the ability and strength to continue. Finally, about almost 3 years of being non-active, I finally had a hysterectomy and was on my way to recovery, and myself. 6 months into healing, my body was still very fragile, everything hurt from lack of movement and years of constant pain. I thought I would be able to get back to myself right after surgery, but surprise surprise, I did not. My early recovery was hard and I was always in discomfort. At the 6 month mark, I search healing exercise videos on YouTube and came across Adriene. I decided to give it a try.

It has only been 2 months since I started. Started with only 2-3 times the first two weeks, and only 10 minutes at a time. By New Years my body, mind, and soul wanted daily yoga sessions, it craved the stretching and my muscle were craving the strength I began to build. I am so thankful to have found Adriene, I now practice at least 30 minutes a day of yoga and feel amazing. I know I have a long ways to go before I can say I feel fully recovered, however, yoga is giving me the strength and the power to take control of myself again.

Thank you for this video! I’ve been hoping you would do one for a while now and I’m so glad you did! I enjoy doing yoga in the evening at home, but sometimes, during the day I need a little moment. This has helped to make me mindful of my posture at my desk and to calm me during a stressful day.

just what I am needing these days. I love your videos Adriene. They have such heart and I love that you don’t keep your poses stagnant but fluid as you feel the need. I am learning to do the same. Keep up the good work!

    Hi!

Just wanted to tell you how much I love your videos. Thanks to you I have fallen in love with yoga!!! 🙂
I love this one very much, prefect for a quick yoga break at work when the body starts to feel sour.

I would love a version for standing at work, if you one day have the time to do one. 🙂

    Thanks again!!!

I’ve loved yoga since I was pregnant with my second child, 9 years ago, but I didn’t have a regular daily practice until I tried your videos. Now I’m addicted and need many fixes throughout my day! It’s really helping my stress levels and overall health. The silent series is perfect for a mini break at my desk. Thank you so much, dear Adriene, for sharing your gift and shining your light. Namaste.

I love this video! It keeps me calm and collected and focused during work, while also helping me prevent neck and back strain. I’d love another video like this, but with standing exercises — I’ve applied for a standing workstation and I would love some exercises to help me stay fit while I work.

Hi Adriene! Love this video. Do you have a version of “Yoga At Your Desk” where you verbally describe the moves? I’m asking because I’d love to share this as a part of a “Wellness Wednesday” at work (lots of us sit at desks all day!), but need the video to be accessible for adults with vision loss. Thank you!

    Hi

Maybe I’m missing something here, but how are we supposed to follow the guidance when we have to keep our eyes on the screen in order to read it? Is there a voice-over that I’m not accessing? Please advise, because in principle it’s a great idea but having to keep my eyes on the screen the whole time is defeating the purpose.
