Camel Pose – Ustrasana

10/08/2016 By Yoga With Adriene 6 Comments

Learn the foundations of Camel Yoga Pose or Ustrasana. Whether you are learning the basics or looking to go deeper, use this foundational yoga practice to slow it down, tune in and play. Build asana from the ground up with a strong base to explore from. Find support with the breath and commit to a practice that is safe and supported with both strength and ease. Drop the struggle! No need to push. Slow down and get strong! Back-bending is so beneficial for the body and the internal organs of the body. Use this yoga pose to minimize anxiety and gain natural energy boost!

Be mindful. Ask your doctor before practicing backbends if you are injured or healing from injury.

Namaste.

Hi Adriene, loving your yoga videos, which of them would be best to improve posture overall, or a longer video? Thanks , Debbie xx

    Hi Adrien

I’m watching this from Japan and it’s great that we can access to your video anytime anywhere. I am always scared to hurt my back at camel pose but I’d like to try bit by bit learning from this video!
    Thank you

    Thank you Adriene
18 months ago I had abdominal surgery which destroyed my confidence in my yoga practide and in particular my backbends. Today I returned to Ustrasana with your sweet guidance. My smile is a mile wide.

I am really enjoying these videos, and have already commented, so in a nutshell — how great to learn a pose this nice, slow way. Adriene is an excellent teacher, and some of her “asides” make me laugh out loud (“I’m in a weird mood”.) But I truly appreciate how nicely-done are these little videos, and how valuable for the solitary home yogi 🙂 Namaste!

Hi! I have always loved yoga and encourage myself to do it more. I enjoy how you guide people through these poses. I feel as though yoga can bring out the best in people.

    Thank you for doing this!
