  1. I love this list, Adriene! I read The Four Agreements years ago and often refer to it. It's on my top 10 list of all-time great reads. I saw your mention of The Tree of Yoga a few weeks ago and bought that one, and am almost finished with it. I also bought Light on Yoga earlier this morning. The others look fabulous as well and I will add them as time and finances allow. I'm very excited to hear more about the Book Club, too! You rock!

    1. I am reading The Four Agreements again right now. I buy it for everyone I love.
And The Tree Of Yoga will be our first book in the YWA community book club- so you are already at the top of the class πŸ˜‰ if you want to participate.
Light On Yoga can be a little dense - in my opinion. It was a book that took me a year to read originally to be totally honest. I still think that it is an essential though and look forward to dusting it off with the YWA community and talking about it. Love to you! YOU ROCK!

        1. The YWA Book Club is now in the FWFG Kula. Click on the link in the menu at the top of this website to come join us in this free online community space.

      1. Hey guys was just burin the four alignments and saw its. A series book set have u guys read the over the fith alignment ? Ps yay I'm in love u guys

  2. I was given The Four Agreements from a dear friend about a year and a half ago, I only recently read it from cover to cover... and then re-read it. I don't think that I was ready for all the eye-opening, life changing information that came with it until just now. It was incredible!! I am so pleased that you have also read it too. I have actually only recently discovered Yoga With Adriene and I cannot be happier to have come across you. I have been sharing you and your funny wise ways with all of my friends and family. Showing them the beauty and freedom of yoga. I have been practicing yoga for a few years on and off, but I think that I really need yoga and everything that you can and have been teaching (and re-teaching me) in my life again. I am on a "change of perspective" journey, and I am thankful for your videos and blog. πŸ™‚ Thank you very much for just being you!!

    1. Bless you Amanda. I am on a similar journey right now too believe it or not. I am re-reading The Four Agreements. I love the simplicity in the teachings. It reminds me of yoga practice. It really is as simple as a conscious breath. Hope you can join our book club next month and invite your friends and family! Love to you! Keep spreading the love and shining.

  3. Have you read B.K.S. Iyengar's Yoga The Path To Holisitc Health? If so, any thoughts? I'm wondering if I'll benefit from this as I'm going to be buying a few books online this weekend

  4. This is great, Adriene! I just posted on the FB Reboot group about recommendations for learning the principles of Yoga, and coincidentally, you just posted this! I'm excited!

  5. Thank you Adriene for this list ! I just bought my copy of The tree of yoga and hope it will be delivered in time for me to participate to the book club (sooo exciting πŸ™‚ )

  6. just bought the tree of yoga and the anatomy one πŸ™‚ …thank's for the list πŸ˜€

  7. I'm so excited! I already had The Four Agreements (read it three times in the last two years - it never gets old and the message you take away is a title different each time), Light on Yoga and Yoga Anatomy. When I got the First Booklist, I got The Heart of Yoga and The Tree of Yoga. I'm a big eager. Yikes! Can't wait to start this book club! It's genius! Thanks so much!

  8. Book club!Such good idea!! Just ordered my book and can't wait to dive into it. Thanks Adri! You rock! πŸ˜€

  9. Yeah! glad to be joining the book club! will be ordering The tree of yoga soon! Thanks so much for your teaching, it is truely inspiring and motivating, I have started yoga on and off for a few year and finally feel ready to dive in deeper and have a consistent practice! I am so glad to have found YWA!

  10. Hi, I was wondering if you could recommend any good books on starting meditation. Since starting yoga I've kinda ignored that aspect. I see that The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali miht have some about it but I am pretty new to yoga so that might be over my head. Thanks!

  11. I purchased two of these books, Light on Yoga and The Heart of Yoga. The reviews said they were good for beginners, and I have to disagree--sort of. While they are comprehensive and excellent, I don't think they're really *approachable* for beginners. (I still recommend them to anyone reading this, though!) I just ordered How to Use Yoga by Mira Mehta, which looks more friendly for new yogis and yoginis.

When can we expect another book list? I would really like to know what Rumi readings you recommend, Adriene!

  12. Greetings from the faraway country if England!

You've really inspired me to really commit to my yoga practice, the vibe you create is just perfect to help build confidence and understanding.

I'm really interested to find out more about the 'spiritual' side of yoga and adapting to a yoga lifestyle as far as I can. Do you have any recommendations for reading or advice.

    Keep on keeping on

  13. Great thanks Adriene! I have just bought tree of yoga, recommended by several members of FWFG, and I have anatomy of yoga, very useful!

  14. I'm not sure this is the place to do it, but I really just want to say thank you. I have been doing your online yoga classes for the past year and they are always helpful, fun, relaxing, and soul-engaging. I have had some special yoga teachers in my life and I feel like you are one of them (I hope you don't mind me saying that), even though I have never taken a class in person. I live in the Yukon --we have a nice yoga community, but it is small, so it is wonderful to know that no matter what day it is, or what time, I can always find one of your classes online. Thank you so much for the wonderful work you do.

    With gratitude,
    Katie

    1. Hi there is one ongoing now! It is run by the community and it is awesome. It is on Facebook under FWFG Book Club! There is a branch off too for fiction now as well! xooxox Adriene

  15. I have started reading the first book on your list. The Tree of Yoga.

I wanted to recommend another brilliant book I have read which is called.

How Yoga Works by Geshe Michael Roach

    Really great read

  16. I have the first one but haven't read it yet so I'm on board for the book club yay! Good motivation to read and learn more about yoga!! thnx!

  17. Just ordered The Tree of Yoga. I am so excited to read it! I am on Day 17 of Yoga Revolution right now, and also was there for the first live stream this past weekend. Your channel has brought such a calmness to my afternoons, and has allowed me to set mental and physical goals after a difficult time. I was in a car accident back in December, and had to stop doing all the types of workouts I was involved in (high impact, aerobics, strength training with weights ...) It made me feel so stressed and just not like me. Working out is one of my stress busting outlets. I have done Yoga before, but dedicating myself to it as a daily practice is a new thing, and I truly love it, all thanks to you! It has done so much more for me than just being a way to exercise. I have even shared one of your videos with my 3rd grade students! (They loved it btw!) Thanks for doing what you do, and being so awesome.

  18. Other than the 4 argeements, what are your top 3 favorites about yoga. Thanks!

  19. This community is amazing! Thank you for the book list Adriene! What is the best copy to get of the BhagavadGita there are so many! I love all of your videos they have helped me tremendously throughout my life πŸ™‚ bless you!

  20. Thank you, Adriene πŸ™‚ I've been meaning to supplement the practice through your channel with practical books. Your list does the trick!

  21. Hi Adrienne!, I stumbled across this blog and I am so glad that I did! I have been looking to enhance my yoga practice with more practical knowledge! I just have a question about the book Um, anything by Louise Hay. I can't seem to find it.

  22. Hi Adriene! Thank you so much for this list. I've ordered the Tree of Yoga and the Heart of Yoga and I have Yoga Anatomy. I'm in training for my teachers certificate and I was wondering if there was a book you referred to when you first started putting the different flows together or did you decide it based on the knowledge you already had about the asanas?

Sending love and healthy vibes from London.

  23. Hi Adriene,
I'm on day 11 of your 30 day yoga challenge! I can't tell you how much better I feel overall. I look forward to getting up in the morning, getting some coffee, lighting some candles and putting you channel on for an adventure in yoga. Your yoga has inspired me to get in overall shape as well. I have started eating clean and exercising throughout the day as well. I love your videos - thank you!!! Thank you for the book list I will be sure to check these out.

  24. Hi Adriene, Thanks so much for this list. You must get a lot of traffic on this page! I'm wondering if you would consider changing your links here so that they go to bookshop.org rather than Amazon to support local bookshops?
    Thanks! Lucy

  25. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Have just ordered The Tree of Yoga, The Four Agreements and The Baghavad-Gita from my local bookshop πŸ™‚

    Thanks so much!

  26. Thank you for this list – and your inspiration! Louise Hay helped me with several seemingly physical problems that really were psychological... and if I may, I'd add Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild by Clarissa Pinkola EstΓ©s as an absolute essential.

  27. Hi, In that list, I don't find the Louise Hay book: Um, anything. It seems not available anymore. Am I correct ? Thanks

    1. Hi Suzanne! Adriene meant to recommend that any book by Louise Hay would be a wonderful read!
