Yoga for Surfers

This week’s free practice is a request for surfers but also designed to support anyone who wants to plug in to center, gently light up the core, ease pain, strengthen the back and bring the body into balance.

It comes fully equipped with all encompassing metaphors for riding the wave, aligning with the flow and getting up after a hard crash.

    Thanks for sharing some of your self in the weekly letter today! I do yoga with you every day and it is never hard to get on the mat. I look forward to it and I do it outside on my deck when it is nice enough. I am blessed with a private backyard backing on to a golf course in North Bay Ontario

  6. I do yoga everyday and you Adriane are my very favorite. I have done all of your 30 day challenges. Do you or will you be releasing any more challenges before 2019? 14 or even a 7 day one would be great. I love the challenges because I know exactly what I will be doing the following day.   7. Great practice. Adiriene’s deeply playful and joyous spirit are contagious! I just sat here on a beautiful Sunday morning in my California coastal town soaking up her joie de vivre to get me off to a good start, and even if I didn’t live near the ocean, this practice would definitely help me feel connected to the ocean, salt air, fresh breezes and the gift of breath!

    Thank you for always encouraging me to strive for my inner smile. My oldest daughter turned me on to your site and i have been practicing with you for five months. i have truly enjoyed every minute, even when i was feeling at my lowest ( i have been going through a divorce.... )
    Each time i hit the mat my heart is opened to all the wonderful possibilities and opportunities that are out there in this big beautiful world as i begin this new stage in my life.

  13. Dear Adriene, it is so good to be back on the mat! I missed this so much after three months of break due to my surgeries and post surgery recovering. Sunday love letters are priceless mirrors that keeps me reminded of human strength and beauty as well as other great people and things that surrounds me. Thank you so much my dear friend!   15. Oh Em Gee - this is exactly what I needed - your email today struck the exact right nerve to get me back on the mat. I've come to the end of my most stressful teaching year yet - and I've been avoiding the mat, doing very little mindfulness and drinking too much - I'm ready to reverse that and this is the perfect way to start that process.   18. Awww, when I was younger I was OBSESSED with surfing. At 26, I have not yet had a chance to surf, but this sparked a lil bit of nostalgia. How cool I have found love and have made time for daily yoga. I think child me would be proud of adult me 🙂 May we all catch a wave at least a few times every day. Namaste <3

  20. Dear Adriene,
    I loved your letter this week - I always do, but this time it was like the words and the language radiated from a strong force in your surroundings.
    I lost my brother three years ago on the 10th of June, which was yesterday, and the day I turned to my mat and this fresh video. My own journey the last months has been full of bliss and healthy challenges, and I have rediscovered the waves asking to be surfed, and dared to both go with the flow, initiate and surrender, in some strange pace.
    Even though still following along, my presence has been weaker the last weeks. Also on the mat I have noticed something holding me back from connecting fully to what was there and then. When I stepped on the mat yesterday, after having read your letter, I could feel my intention had changed. I almost had no intention - I just started. A couple of times I had to pause the video to stay in what was unfolding. Today I can say i am again much more where I am, and I am (again) truly grateful for your invitation to dive into what the moment offers - all its paradoxes, all its challenges and all its bliss. Lots of love and a big Thank You. 🙂 <3

    I have enjoyed following your yoga and inspirational writing associated with this.
    I have loved your gentleness, humour and integrity when you offer support with all that life throws at us.
    Your positive encouragement is well received.
    However I have to say I was offended by the use of the ‘f’ word in your blog about yoga for surfers.
    Ok, I’m not a surfer and don’t relate to that community where maybe that’s a common word in use, but it struck me as being in conflict with the ethos of the yoga love.
    Where I come from that is considered foul language and I was disappointed to see it associated with you and your teachings. Everything I have seen and read on your blog has been nothing but gentle and joyful, so I was sad to see this.
    It lowers my opinion and possibly that of others too.
    Please continue to share the yoga with integrity and respect.
    I hope I will enjoy more of your work and be inspired but not disillusioned.

    Re FWFG merchandise...Is there a way that the items can be sold in the UK? for us here to order the awesome gear and rock it in the UK, it adds at least another £15 onto the price. Last time I ordered the FWFG vest it cost me £41 because I had to pay tax and customs etc..
    I am more than happy to hold stock it here and for me to post out to the FWFG UK community. Actually, I would love to do that. So let me know girlfriend :))

    I am a Londoner and not a surfer by any stretch of the imagination! However, I ended up driving for a total of 6 hours last night and my body was so tight as a result. Today I just wanted to do some of your yoga, no idea what, so I went for this one, and it was absolutely perfect for getting all the kinks out of my back!
    My body feels right again.
