Yoga for Psoas

Yoga For Psoas is a 20 minute yoga practice that targets the Psoas muscle inviting a combination of release, strengthening and stabilizing. Anchor in the sound of the breath and enjoy. Repeat this practice regularly to avoid back pain, tightness in hips and over all tension in the body. Preventative care is the best care!

  1. Oh Adriene, how did you know just what I needed. I really hurt my low back on the 4th and have been slowly feeling better. I have been search out low back yoga videos on your page. Can't wait to try this one! Thank you, you are the best.
PS When are you coming to Detroit?

  2. This practice was lovely to wake up to this morning. I have suffered with a bad back all my life so any gentle yoga which can help ease that pain is always welcomed!

  3. Adrienne, you lift me up every day. I am so grateful to you, and my dear friend Andrea who asked me about 6 months ago, "have you ever done yoga with Adrienne?".
My life is better with you in it.
You are awesome, and now I am more awesome too!
    Always, Nancy

  4. How soon would you recommend taking up yoga for a 51 year old after a total hip replacement op ?
I did start as a brand new beginner a few of your sessions on YouTube a while ago to try and get some movement and flexibility and it did ease the stiffness, but the bad hip I had negated any benefits ..
it was just too painful to do anything really.
Anyway I had the op 2 weeks ago and want a new start .
Thanks for all your videos , people in work have took it up for the 1st time due to you
    Cheers

  5. Thank you so much for all that you do! You are such an inspiration. I don't hit the mat every day , but am always better off when I do. Your videos, approach, humor, and gentle spirit are the perfect start to my days and companion for my fitness journey. This practice was particularly timely. My body (and thus, my spirit) is/are grateful.

    Namaste

  6. Hi Adriene,
    Loving your work!
I am a 60 year old who just recently got pursuaded to try yoga. Now I'm hooked!
I am fortunate to have a great teacher, but wanted to explore what was out in the media to support practice at home. The first time I watched one of your videos I knew this was right for me.
So here is the start of what I hope is a long and pleasurable journey. I know that certain things I will find challenging and that there is no magic bullet to give instant results. However, the key thing I have already learned is that it is not a competition with anyone else - it is a practice to know and improve self.
So, much love to you, and my sincere thanks and respect.

  7. Hello!
I thought you stopped doing letters to e-mails but I noticed that I just haven't received them anymore. I tried to re-enter my e-mail to your subscription list but I only got this message that says that my e-mail address has been removed for flagging a message as spam/abuse? How can I fix this? I need your love letters back to my life!

  8. Hi, I really genuinely enjoyed the vinyasa series that I downloaded from your site. I feel grounded and energized when I do these videos. It would be great if there was another vinyasa series. Thank you.

  9. I love you and I am so grateful for the blessing of you in my life. You are amazing and beautiful inside and out. Love your yoga classes so much ^_^

  10. I really enjoyed the Psoas practice,it became an instant favorite and was added to my FWFG favorite videos! It was super fun doing poses never done before but yet very relaxing! A highly recommended practice that I will be returning too!

P.S. I absolutely loved the Sunday news letter today! Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favorite movies and Robin Williams will always be my favorite actor! Thank you Adriene,it did make me smile!

  13. Adriene
I have never enjoyed exercise, only the sweet relief of it being over. I started your 30 days of yoga 12 days ago and it's become the only exercise I have ever looked forward to. I feel great during and after my practice and I can feel the benefits already. I live in the UK but I'm a flight attendant so i am away all over the world. But I have been able to fit the sessions into my life so easily. The way you deliver the session is so heart-warming, enjoyable and understanding for us beginners. I love being able to find the sweet sensations in the stretch and sometimes I can't believe the session is over when I was enjoying it so much instead of counting down the minutes. You are an inspiration and I can't wait to see what the next 18 days bring to my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing this into my life.

  14. I just want to say thank you for your humor and grace in your videos and how u changed my life. I have fibromyalgia and can not do conventional work outs and i was struggling to find the right person. Im a very spiritual person and your light eases my days and pain after every routine. Thank you for all of the options for workouts on my tough days. Much love from this universe

  15. Thank you for your videos ! They make me feel good 🙂
I have a question for you : do you plan to guide a yoga retreat somewhere ? I am looking to book a yoga retreat this winter 🙂
    Thanks again !

  16. A perfect workout for a cyclist like myself. I am training hard for an event so muscles are bulking up and tightening up. I had a sport massage last week to help loosen everything off and he commented on my tight hips. One week and 4 of these sessions later and he noticed the difference. Also very relaxing - a perfect way to start my day. Thank you

  17. After a 30+ year retail career, you can imagine what all that standing and kneeling has done to my 55 year old, slightly overweight body. In the past 2 years I had begun having hip pain when laying in bed. My chiropractor did some adjusting which helped but only temporarily. I never heard of psoas until I ventured past Yoga For Beginners. I have embarked on my own personal crusade to spread the yoga love. My muscles are doing the work again instead of my bones. As it should be. In my effort to be a healthy active senior, I consider your series as a blessing. Low impact stretching for starters with an option to work where you need it, as intensely as you need it makes it simple to "find what feels good"
I have always battled with my weight and finally realize I need a lifestyle change. Yoga is the one form of exercise I actually look forward to participating in.
Thank you for giving of yourself so generously. You are reaching people and making a difference.

  18. Thank you so much Adriene! It works a lot against back pain. Thank you for all, you are a benediction!

  19. This was my first go at your videos Adriene and it was lovely! My nervous system was out of sorts through the night and I should have just got up and got on the mat with this. Will be trying out others certainly

  20. Hi Adriene

  22. This yoga for the Psoas is my absolute favorite! I walk a lot and my hip flexors get tight . This practice relieves and settles everything down. Thank you so much . I’m 64 years old and love your videos!

  23. Another excellent session- like other people commenting above l am struggling a bit with tight hips and all the complex muscles that support our back and legs. Now I'm in my late sixties and still enjoy walking in the countryside and yoga is a lovely way to keep things flexible. Thank you Adrienne for understanding the body and keeping the movements simple but effective.
