Yoga for Insecurity

When we feed insecurities we can easily forget that we are capable, loved, and worthy of so much.

When we are insecure we limit possibilities for growth and turn into folks who are just trying to survive.

I fell in love with yoga because it guides me to recognize my power.

When I choose to recognize my power - my brain, my body, and my spirit taste and feel like a oneness.

I don’t feel insecure or afraid, I feel whole.

Without a doubt, it is my at home yoga practice that has shaped me and provided me with the time and space to explore not just my body but the connection to my spirit.

That recognition will turn your fears away and allow you to flourish in the garden of peace and happiness.

  3. Adriene I want to tell you how immensely grateful I feel to you. So glad and happy that my sister sent me a link just a few months ago. I have recently emerged from 5 years of quite crippling chronic illness. I was unable to work and so having been in well paid work became very poor. It's been such a learning journey and I feel so much richer for the experience. However financially I have some catching up to do. So for now my way of paying back is to do as much of my work with children as I can for free. I want you to know that I am paying it forward. I would love to join DWFG soon and I will but for now I am SO benefiting from your free yoga at home videos and I do recommend you to as many as I can along the way. I hope you appreciate what an amazing unique and talented teacher you really are!! Keep on keeping it real sister we are so lucky and blessed to have you! Sending much love xxx

    1. Read your comment after doing this practise this morning. Something you wrote about resonated work wise with me too . Sometimes the universe takes a hammer to us but for higher callings maybe I hope you are feeling stronger- I think those children you now share your creativity with have been given you as an inspiration. . Adriene is an amazing teacher and I felt particularly connected to this practise this morning. It comes at the right time for me as I struggle to make sense of things after a hard year.
      We are lucky to have her. Free and spirited as she is.

This video is fantastic, I can not explain how my body and energy changed from being off this morning and having a sort of low day to now I am going to do a lot of fun things. It is simple, strengthening and fun. Personally also great,is that I felt that my body has become much more alined and strong. A little bit of fun yoga and the body starts to change incredibly.   14. Hi! We got to vacation and from the hustle bustle and excitement tension has been high. I’m doubting my parenting ability and stressing. When I started this I immediately could recognize that I had no connection to my core. By the end I could feel more connected. I will be doing this again to keep working on it. What great timing for me! Beautiful practice.

  15. Beautiful practice, much needed for my spirit and mind this morning --- not to mention my body. When I started doing yoga a few years ago on a regular basis, I could not sit on my feet in hero position. Now I can easily do it for a few minutes without pain. I believe this is at the root of so much of yoga practice for me -- gently easing into my potential.

    1. I'm doing this and I'm a member now of FWFG, just wanted to say I love you, like a sister in yoga faith. The calm that comes with regular practice is wonderful, and the relief from minor back strain that used to be common is super nice. My balance is better and I'm comfortable in many environments that used to be intimidating..This is so good, I just need a slightly bigger yoga mat.

  19. Im not sure how you do it but you always give me exactly what I need. Last night i was having many insecurities about my career path and being back in school while simultaneously working full time and raising a child as a single parent. At many points in my situation i think 'can i REALLY do this?' This practice today helped me calm my nerves and prepared me for a big day spend with my son and studying. Thank you Adriene for helping me help myself and inspiring me eaeach and every day!

  23. Loved this practice today. Yoga slipped the last few weeks and feeling it in this practice but feeling accomplished to be back on the mat again.
    Thinking I might concentrate on this session for the rest of the week tomorrow get back to routine and see progess as week moves on.

  28. Beautiful! Perfect as I’ve been working with love and mindfulness on my 3rd chakra so the extra guidance during knee in “swim” section was magical. Just the right amount of work and stretch and breath to center ourselves and reclaim our power

  44. First I want to say thank you for being you! You are my only yoga teacher at this point and I have appreciated your guidance at my home practice.
    I struggle with mental health issues and choose not to be medicated. It makes the road tough. This past weekend was one of those rough patches, I could not bring myself to even move or practice... much less anything. Today I forced myself to get moving and this practice was perfect for today! I am a very insecure person naturally, but this helped me to feel like I could push thru. Even though I was shaky and weak feeling, I still felt like " I can do this " there were a few happy tears at the end. Anxiousness will not take over today, I can do this!
    I am grateful for your care and kindness and teaching. I have had some experiences going to classes ( we don't have a ton of options where I am ) so I am happy to have found a teacher I feel safe with and who encourages the journey!

    I use to get in the mat and everything would come swarming down on my head...today I can smile at the little victories.

    I noticed that when you mentioned 'letting it all go," -I was already there. That's happens to me more often than naught when I practice with you and the community.

  50. Good morning, this was awesome. I completed YTT 200 in April and haven't keep up my daily practice. I feel awful about it. I feel awkward and less attractive.   57. This was the first practice I have done in a couple of weeks and, boy, it was rough. But, I got a good understanding of what Adriene often says in "drop the pose." I wanted to do what my body does when I am practicing regularly and that was not happening. I just accepted the parts of my body that were tight or sore and did the pose the way my body could today. I really enjoyed that, it was a good lesson to learn for me!

  59. Total synchronicity! I woke up this morning a little off and decided to do yoga- your yoga- and the first thing I saw was this video- the perfect video. This morning I had to honor how my mind felt. Today I woke up feeling insecure but with complete resolution and direction. I am strong. I can get my family through these times, I know I can do it. I can conquer and help my loved ones by sustaining them through their rough paths. I know I can and this video gave me the peace and strength I need it to achieve that. Thank you Adrienne.

    I Haven't done this video yet, but I’m sure I will. I love plants and mother earth. I wanted to thank you for the amazing teachings you give out so freely. I wanted to try Yoga and found a video of yours I’ve been doing them ever sense. I have fallen in love with yoga, and all the benefits it offers not just on the physical level-mostly on the mental, and spiritual. In the past couple years i have had my share of struggles, and some low points mentally and emotionally that I didn't even think were possible. And I experienced true loneliness, days when it was unbearable i would take out my matt and “Do what feels good” I have laughed, and cried on my Matt, and your beautiful soul touched mine and made me feel worth it “for me” self love... I know sometimes people do things in life without realizing how truely impacting they are on another human being. So i wanted to let you know the light in me absolutly honors the light in you. You were given a beautiful gift and I am so thankful that I got to experience it, and I can even hit rewind if needed!!! You are an amazing teacher. I always tell poeple about your videos. I hope they get to experience the same emotions ( and weird at first poses haha ) that I do when I practice with you! It has also been wonderful watching your career grow, It makes me truely happy to see that you are getting the appreciation you deserve, while helping others!!!

  68. I found your yoga sessions recommended but hadn't gotten around to trying any yet. This video seemed intriguing so I had always planned to start with this exercise to try it out. Today was the day to start, and within the first few minutes, I realized that it was exactly what I needed at this exact time and I was in tears. It's helping me process some things that just came up in my personal life and I'm so thankful. I can already feel the release of some of my tension and stress of the things and feelings I've been holding on to. Thank you so so so much.

    However, I did feel pain in my wrists and back- and I am not old…I’m literally in my teens.
    So on that note, what modifications can I do to prevent the pain until I build up the muscle?
