Yoga for Swimmers

Yoga for Swimmers is a great practice for avid swimmers and amateur swimmers. Use this practice to connect the mind and body so that you can stay healthy and injury free.

This practice will help you connect with your body as one moving part. Let your breath guide you as you balance your activities in the water and on land. Cultivate a way of being that is sustainable and feels good.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below.

  1. I'm so happy to see this video. I love swimming. I celebrated a milestone birthday by going to Austin so I could swim outdoors (I didn't know about Yoga with Adriene, at that time so I missed the opportunity to take a class while in Austin). My birthday is in early April. At this time of year it is too cold swim in Chicago, where I live. I swam at Big Stacy. I am longing to return to Austin to swim at Barton Springs. And take a yoga class with you, Adriene, of course.
Thank you for this lovely practice.

  2. Adriene .... your words and yoga are always just what I need. You are sweet, talented and a great gift to all of us who follow you on your You Tube channel. I have recommended you to so many friends. They love you too!

  3. I'm so excited and delighted to do this practice later today!! A topic near and dear, the breath. Big buoyant breath in, long soothing breath out. I just got a tattoo on my wrist that says "breathe" so I have that constant reminder (I know it seems silly, but life just has a way of making me forget to focus on the breath!) Thank you, Adriene!! Namaste ✨

  4. So excited to try this one, thanks for all the amazing videos, have been doing Yoga with Adrienne for three years and it's helped in my life so much.

You are completely inspiring so thanks for being so awesome!

  5. Thank you for your inspirational messages and wonderful yoga practices! I have been on sick leave from work since October but with your guidance, I feel like I will find the strength to return in the not so distant future. Have you considered offering an App (aside from the monthly subscription) so that we could download a month's worth of classes and not have to worry about having an Internet connection? That would be so great!! Have a fantastic week!

  6. Just received my first YWA email. Yep, it's official, I'm in da club!

I committed to your Yoga Revolution. I just love it. I cry at the end of each practice when "Yoga Revolution" appears across a sky full of stars on the tv screen. The music moves me too. Not sure this is normal but... I'm on day 9 tomorrow. It's all so wonderful. Thank you.

  7. Yo Adrienne! ☀

Thank you for this awesome freebie, swimming and yoga feel really good
Just wanted to say your letter humbled me today and went directly to my core, in a super yummy way Made me think of a song which would finish it off perfectly : 'Here for you' - Eyedea

  8. My first comment, although I am with you and you are with me mostly every morning. It has been this way for more than a year now and I am happy and grateful about this relationship. For me, a long-time swimmer and a relatively recent YWA-fan, this is THEEEE gift. Thank you so much. Namaste, from Munich, Germany.

  9. Thank you dear Adreinne. You made me addicted to Yoga and I love this addiction . Thank you so much for your weekly videos and monthly callenders .I am so proud to say that I successfully completed April callender . Only today's session I couldn't do as there is no audio . May be an issue at our browser end . I Thank you once again .

  10. I adore lap swimming in the 50 m outdoor heated pool here in Central Australia where I am living .
Alice Springs has a red rock range surrounding the town and as I move through the crystal clear water the sun shines on the range . We feel protected and nurtured by the range ... so after reading about this new swimming focus I am delighted to give it a go . I find I can focus on my breath while swimming and slow it down . It is relaxing and healing .
I enjoy your classes so much and really connect with your style
    So much gratitude Adriene

  11. I love what your friend Sonnet would say - I'm going to keep that with me all day - and more!

    Thank you!

The email came in just perfect to my train of thoughts.. kind , smart and loving - surprisedly the things i forgut showing for myself . And if "you have what you give' so, I guess I'm in a process of learning how to breath my spirit better, hope to give more where ever I can. Thank you for giving me the words that I needed.

    Have a wonderful weekend
    Love

  13. Hi Adrienne,

    Love your yoga videos
If possible; please do a video on what asanas are best suited for different cycles for women

  14. Brilliant, my left arm was beginning to ache after taking up swimming again and so I not doing exercises that put strained it, but this was just perfect. Strengthening and calming at the same time. Thank you!

  15. Perfect practice for today! I'd love to download this one to have for when I don't have Internet (which happens regularly out here in the sticks). If you can make it available, thanks! Great energy and core work today.

  16. Thank you , thand you Adriene. yes yes . It is so good energy that you are putting and I love it and love you too.

  17. I live in LA and was sooooooooo excited to see that you were coming to Santa Monica Pier (I love your videos and style of teaching, and I would absolutely LOVE to take a class with you) until I learned I had to fly to the East Coast over the weekend, and would be on a plane back to Los Angeles during Wanderlust 108 🙁 I have been feeling the pull to swim very strongly the past few days, and was planning on heading to the pool after doing your newest video (in lieu of actually being able to practice with you) and lo and behold it is a video for swimmers! As sad as I am that I missed your presence in Santa Monica, this small alignment is comforting to me. I can't wait for the day that I finally get take a class with you - you have played such a big role in the growth of my yoga practice and I am forever grateful <3 Thank you Adriene!

  18. Thanks so much! I'm a swimmer and recently was invited to play Mahjongg. The players are, like myself, elderly and they sit at the game, nonstop, for several hours. I had thought to quit the game, as I am n such bad shape afterwards, but your Wonderful session this morning made me remember: your practice is the key to being able to do it all!!!!Thanks so much!

  19. Not only does my 86 year old dad still carry the groceries, but he's back to Zumba, Pilates & strength training thanks to YOU!
He has always been very active, but last October became severely ill and he was bedridden for months, unable to eat, walk, move... requesting to die in peace rather than go on feeling so badly. We nursed him through the virus, and at the start of 2017, we used Yoga With Adriene to start rebuilding his strength.
First, 30 Days of Yoga, then 31 Day Yoga Revolution, the Yoga Camp, plus individual postings that have brought us to practicing over 100 days with you this year!
It's our morning ritual, and your smile and energy helped bring him back to life. He is back to driving himself to the gym after our yoga practice, and I'm happy to report that the sick, weak man who could barely stand is a distant memory.
We will be forever grateful to you and your gentle, kind inspiration. I truly feel you helped save him, and I'm thrilled to finally enjoy practicing yoga & finding what feels good!
My kids & husband have also noticed such a difference -- they're starting the journey today!!
You have no idea the changes you're creating in this world. Thank you Adriene!
    Namaste.

  20. That was awesome, Adriene! Also, you look beautiful in your fierce outfit! Much love, Angela

  21. Thanks Adriene, I can't wait to give this practice a go! Unfortunately I broke a toe a few days ago and I can't believe how much one tiny toe affects every little movement and transition. I practice yoga with you daily and have been finding it difficult to complete practices with my obnoxious swollen achey toe. I have been modifying some practices and putting together some of my own to stay on the mat while it heals. However, it turns out every day being an abdominal day starts to get old pretty fast.

If you are looking for any ideas, I have a wonky one for you: I would love to request a yoga practice specifically for injured toes since putting weight on my heels is no biggie, or for foot injuries if that is a less specific. While I wait for the little nubbin to heal I would love a guided practice that stretches, strengthens, and soothes my upper body, core, and lower body if possible. Thank you for listening and for continually being a source of positive energy and inspiration! I love your work!

  22. Thanks for the email. I haven't done yoga lately. I want to now just cause of the email. I like your Yoga channel cause it is structured as well as entertaining. I also like sharing your videoes. Thanks again Tera.

  23. Thanks Adriene,
Afraid I snapped my patella tendon earlier this year and have only been able to partake in some of the gentler no knee-bend moves so far, but have gradually got on the road to whatever recovery I can make. One thing I can still do though is pull myself through the water, and I just love this practice.
    Dom

  24. Really enjoyed this practice. Not a swimmer but enjoy swimming. This was great for upper body. I will favorite this one!
