Yoga For When You Overeat

13 min Yoga For Digestion or for when you overeat! Great for gut health! Adriene taps into the 2 Gs! Find out what they are and how to wield their power to create a powerful shift when things get the best of you.

This week’s free practice says it’s about digestion and feeling full. And it is. But really it is about what do to when you feel like you are going to pop. Take that literally, or figuratively. Poetically.

  1. I just did the previous digestion video (with the heart shirt) a few hours before this one was uploaded, thinking, "wow what a great one for thanksgiving weekend!" Weird... I make sure I do two videos every day. one in the morning and one at bed time. I'm just starting to experiment with trying some new/older videos and started the 30 days of yoga playlist this morning. Had like 6 synchronistic moments. Was crazy Adriene. You always give me the giggles on the mat and that is so necessary and healing. I recommend this channel to everyone (I'm sure the lady at the yoga studio loves me for that :/ ) If I'm ever in Texas, I'm buying you a green tea lol Namaste

    1. I’ve just got to tell you. Your practice is the best I’ve come across. It’s the only one Ide choose over going to a live class. Your instructions are exquisite, you’ve got a practice for everything!(just recently injured my back). .whatever I’m feeling, you’ve got a practice for it. Thank you Adrienne ❤️

  2. Adriene, I love the way that you are so aligned with the universe. My universe. I am working on living my best self. And that’s when opportunities arise to challenge my efforts. And sometimes I fail. Ok, I fail a lot. But then you come along each week and give me just what I need to recharge and revive my intention.

Thank you for having my back! I pray that all your efforts on behalf of this amazing Kula come back to you ten-fold!

    Namaste my Peaceful Warrior

  3. This video was just what I needed this morning. My toxic thoughts were creeping in before this video. Feeling thankful for Adriene and FWFG!!

    1. Hey Joan,
Do you ever experience yourself coming back to this video or am I the only one? I've started doing it nightly- not only when I overeat. I truly feel like I am connecting with my digestive sytem.
      Truly,
      B.T.

  4. I love your emails and I think I may have accidently unsubscribed to all.
I was attempting to unsubscribe from yoga camp emails.
How do I get back on your recent and future email list. I want to receive your weekly newsletter and the December emails for LIGHT - thank you. Adriene, you have inspired me to be a Yogi! Love your soul and this practice and intend to stay w you!

  5. Hi, I love your workouts and do them regularly. Thanks a lot!

One question: do you have a yoga session for pelvic floor/after birth? I could need that 🙂

  6. Hi Adriene! I haven't found the perfect words to express my gratitude and admiration, so I've been procrastinating my comments. But I feel I can't do that any longer.
I discovered your channel on YouTube in September and since then I've been doing at least one of your videos everyday.
I'm a mother of three and we're homeschooling; plus I'm a teacher coach at an adult school. hardly have time for myself. But with you I've discovered the value of finding that time no matter what. It no longer feels like an "evil selfish waste of time" bit rather a well-deserved gift to myself and to those who surround me. I don't see my time with you like task to be completed, it has become a need to function properly- one that brings me laughter and peace: happiness.
You've made me see yoga as an act of (much needed) self-love, and not like simply cool work out ( that's how the search began).
I love you for transforming me from the distance, for believing in me and making me feel a success no matter what I do. Thanks for teaching me to love myself and my effort to be here and maybe "just" breathe, and particularly thanks for reminding me to smile!
I don't think I've said it all, but I hope you feel -as I said at the beginning- the love, gratitude and admiration.

One final thing, I'm too flexible. The doctor told me that it's called hyper flexibility (that could be a wrong translation from Spanish- sorry) but you ver the idea. This means I'm very grateful for you constant guidance and reminders of being mindful-which is something I'd had trouble with before you. Anyway, I've been improving my strength and balance, but I'm confused about my feet.
I think I'm not moving forward with my practice because I'm not sure how to place my feet.
I follow your guidance carefully, but I feel, something is off. It's most noticeable during balance practices like tree pose. The thing is because of my flexibility the whole sole of my foot can easily be completely on the ground, but that throws me off balance and I feel it affects my posture and Inreally don't want to get injured because it's all been great so far.

Could you describe in detail or show me how my feet should ideally look when completely grounded? (As a child a doctor even thought I had a "flat foot" -again a Spanish translation-, but later a specialist found it was just my hyper flexibility.

I hope I was clear enough about my concern. THANKS again for EVERYTHING!

Laura, Costa Rica ( if you ever come by, I'd be glad to help you with anything!)

    1. What a lovely and thoughtful post. I’ve never posted anywhere but felt the need to here and to you. 🙂 I am the mother of a 2 yo and a 4 yo, and I am the director of a large rehab clinic and am also dealing with grief as I’ve recently lost my father and my sister. I feel you in your gratitude to this practice - it’s changing how I think and teaching me how to love myself. And for the first I am not looking for hardcore workout but instead for the changes that are happening in my heart and brain (neuroplasticity, whaaaat??!)
Here’s where I might be able to help though: I am a physical therapist and would be happy to give you some pointers for someone who is very flexible or hyper-mobile. Not sure how to share my email here so let me know if you’re interested and we can figure something out. I’m also a foot and ankle specialist so can definitely help on intrinsic strengthening exercises for your arch especially if you have a more collapsed arch.
      Take good care!

      1. Hello! Great to hear from you, thank you so much!
I'm very sorry for your loss, but by reading I can feel you are a beautiful and strong person who will find healing from within.
I'd love to hear your advice! Im open to ideas on how we could get in touch ☺️

  7. This was great! It's gentle enough that I might start doing this after lunch at work, to combat the 2pm slump (although I don't have my own office, and I'm not sure what my coworkers would think if they walked into the conference room and saw me in corpse pose 🙂 ).

How often do you recommend doing yoga--should it be a daily practice, or less frequent (hopefully not more!)?

  8. This is perfect video and I needed this. I do face problems with digestion and I have been practicing yoga to overcome this problem. So far I have succeeded and thanks to you too for sharing this video.

    1. I also have a lot of digestive issues and actually found Adriene's videos on Youtube because of this video. I was amazed at how well it worked and how quickly I felt better. That's the point where something finally clicked for me and I actually began to fully grasp the physical benefits for the inside of the body. Everything came together all at once and suddenly I was able to start practicing faithfully everyday without it feeling like a chore. I've since found and started the 30 Day True Challenge and I look forward to it everyday. I can feel myself making progress and not only physically but the other piece that goes along with the challenge is helping me see things differently. I'm so happy I found her channel.

  9. Really love the way you have delivered the message from the video.
I have to subscribe to your newsletter.
Thanks for sharing this video with us. 🙂

  10. hi Adrienne, I've just discovered you, and loving your videos. I'm a beginner with hypermobility issues like someone else on this thread. In the past when I've tried yoga I've ended up giving up because I get strained./injured and lost confiidence. It would be great if you could do something about yoga and hypermobility? Very best wishes

  11. Hi Adriene, I've been doing you Yoga videos on YouTube for some time now and all other yoga videos just don't have the same spice to them as yours do. Anyway, that's not why I am commenting - I just did your digestion video after bengi-ing (haha - sorry, had to...) on salad for lunch. I think this is the most I have burped in my life. Much appreciated! Thanks!

  12. I was back to follow my yoga since having fun with other activities for a decade. After watching you, I was inspired and relieved...thank you so much, love you, Adriene

  13. Hi Adriene, I can not express how grateful I am to you for these videos. I took a few classes in the past and struggled with the instruction and often found myself comparing my practice to others. I have been doing your videos for 15 days and am love. I can already see improvement. Would you consider creating a video for those with osteoporosis? There is very little out there and I have learned that yoga can be very beneficial yet some poses need to be modified or cause problems. Thank you!

  14. I was wondering if you have ever posted a video on diastasis recti. This is an issue I would be very interested in. Thank you!

  15. I've had 3 babies in 3 years, I was a stressed out mess lol. In August my son turned 2 months I was sitting on the couch trying to figure out what to do with myself and thought I never tried yoga and always was interested. Ive been doing it daily on the YouTube channel ever since. I was anxious, irritable felt like I couldn't get my shit together lol. Now I feel calm balanced better than I have since I was in my early 20s. I stopped taking my antidepressant, I take cbd but that is natural. Also I have chronic back pain I was on pain pills and hooked but I've been clean 17 months. And now I have no pain with no pills. Yoga REALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. If I miss a day I really feel it. My only problem is Im gaining weight.....Maybe gaining muscle? I know it has nothing to do with the yoga. I was pregnant 4 years in a row so I had no strength. I totally feel like I'm getting it back though. I hate cardio with a passion but fell in love with yoga and these videos. Is there anything recommended that could help me drop weight with yoga? I do the weight loss series but I like to mix it up based on how my body and mind feels that day. Sorry I'm ranting on but I was a person who did not like exercise didn't do it, like I said depressed anxious and today I feel like a different person! I could go on and on about the positive effects it's had on me! I talk about it to my mom groups and friends. I LOVE YOGA WITH ADRIENE lol!
