Why I Am In RIO...

A lot of folks have been wondering why I am on some kind of week long vacation with Adidas. Well join the weekly letter already!

From the weekly letter Wednesday August 3, 2016:

Hello friends!

Well, I am off on an adventure!

Off to make dreams come true.

And likely to see some hard truths play out too.

Off to visit a new place and meet new friends!

Off to connect to the global energy!

CUE: Chariots Of Fire theme

I’m going to the 2016 Summer Olympics.

We’ve been working hard on content, building new relationships and exchanging in amazing conversations with kula members in the last few weeks here at home.

Now it is time to jump on a fun opportunity that I truly believe I manifested.

Only - half kidding on this.

I’ve always loved the Olympics.

I was in the womb during the 1984 Summer Olympics (age revealed!!!) and have always been in total awe of the Olympic games.

Winter. Summer. I love you both.

I love you both and can settle in for hours watching, following - loving every minute of it.

My Dad recently told me that he recorded a lot of the 84’ Olympics for me on VHS and that I watched them as a kid. Ha!

I have gathered round to watch events with pals every four years.

What will go wrong? What will go right? Oh the joy! The drama! The athleticism! The bravery! The blasphemy! The love.

I am known among my circle of friends for having opening ceremony parties. We even made a little gold medal for Blue (RIP) one year.

I just love it.

Now, do I know that there are things wrong with the Olympics?

Yes, I do.

But on one base level - I’m just sharing a part of me with you. I love the event, it’s global energy and the connect it stirs around the world.

So, when jokes about my attendance in RIO became an invitation - to - make - that - a - reality.

I said YES.

Adidas has invited me as an influencer to attend the games for one week and share my experience with my friends, YOU.

I chose week one.

This will be the first trip I have taken all year in which I am not teaching or leading, but rather, playing and exploring solely.

And you can bet your bottom dollar I am taking you with me.

I invite you to follow me on IG, Twitter and Facebook for photos and videos capturing the experience.

Support my dream of getting to the Olympics by liking the photos!

I’ll be using the hashtag #FWFGRIO to document the journey.

I will be doing a Facebook Live from the opening ceremony on August 5th. Join me if you are keen!

It’s going to be an adventure.

Let’s remember to be kind to one another as we navigate our way through all the confusion and darkness - back towards our true light.

It’s there.

Burning.

Like the Olympic torch.
August is here and Sarah’s calendar is a real treat! Have fun with your practice this month. Remember to keep it light and to find places to play and be playful. Thank you to Marcie for making a playlist of all the videos on the August calendar HERE.
Well -  clothes, book, yoga mat, and camera bag - packed. The road to Rio begins today for this yogi!

I’ll see you out there.

Namaste,
Adriene

  1. Good for you! You created this path for yourself and you made your dreams come true. Whilst doing so, you also put out brilliant home yoga classes for the rest of us! Win-win! Have a fabulous time X X X

  2. Dear Adriene

Enjoy your time in Brazil. I'm following your 30 day yoga from São Paulo. Thank you for being you!

  3. Love you and the inspiration and peace you have given me. I feel like I can take on the world, the good bits and the bad. I hope you have a fantastic time in Rio.
Can someone please answer me this... I'm now looking into doing a Yoga teacher training course and wondered if Adriene did a specific style (cause I love it) so I can select the right one for me??
    Many thanks and magical wishes
    Smile always

    1. you definitely inspire me Adriene. I began practicing yoga a year ago with you when I was stuck in the house on a vacation for 2 weeks and it poured everyday. I was going stir crazy because I couldn't go outside to workout. So I thought, what the heck, I'll just try this yoga (I said, I know I won't like it... I never liked being still). I practiced the first day and felt ok, then the next I did it and felt good, next, better then I noticed my belly was so much flatter than I've seen in a very long time. I was almost hooked. When I continued to practice everyday for less than 45 minutes I began to feel amazingly wonderful... In a great mood everyday, happier, more confident and the list goes on and on.
A year and few months have gone by and I'm so hooked on your yoga practices. NOW I can't wait to practice in the RAIN. lol

  4. This is my first visit to your blog, which I found after watching one of your videos featured on Mother Nature Network. I am very happy and surprised to see we have exactly the same attitude towards Olympic games in general! 🙂 My only unrealised dream this life will probably be competing at the Olympics as an athlete... but well, who knows what the future might still hold for this very healthy 38 year old 😉 I also love yoga, even though I would be more properly called a beginner. Thank you so much for your wonderful work and ultra-positive energy! I will subscribe for news 🙂 Greetings from southern Brazil!

  5. I am loving your 30 day yoga challenge. I am a Pilates instructor who has been wanting to incorporate more yoga into my life. I have recently moved to Uruguay and wasn't sure how I'd evolve into yoga practice given I don't speak Spanish. I have felt incredibly inspired and dedicated thanks to your videos. Every day I now crave the mental clarity and physical transformation. Thank you Adriene! I appreciate you!

  6. Hey girl!
My husband and I have been dipping in and out of your yoga practice for the past year and now we are following Revolution together. Lovin' it.
I'm only now starting to read about more about you (apologies). We were in Rio, too, with our 2 boys as we are also Olympic lovers (Go Team GB!). The energy there was amazing and such a beautiful landscape to hold the games. I will now channel our Rio energy when practicing our yoga with you.
    Go Rio Revolution!

I am a child and young people's psychotherapist and I have recommended your website to quite a number of stressed out British teenagers (and adults).
Thank you for your energy and your playful and gentle approach.
    Much love
    Lou and Jamie
